Spoken English has become so important that if you want to travel abroad or if you want to crack your dream job- Spoken English is mandatory! Learning Spoken English is exciting but can be challenging and time-consuming at the same time.

Now, let us tell you that you can learn to speak English fluently very soon! Can’t believe it right? Go through the detailed blog and you will discover the ways to improve your speaking skills.

1. Start using English while you speak as much as possible:

The one thing you must do to speak English fluently is to speak a lot. Whatever you do- just keep on speaking, whether you speak wrong or right. Never feel afraid or shy if you speak the wrong English, and always try to accept your mistakes. If you don’t accept your mistakes then you cannot rectify them. Almost every tip and trick for achieving your spoken English fluency goals will come down to this. This is one of the ways to improve your spoken English effectively.

If you’re staying in a place where spoken English is not so popular, finding opportunities to practice can be difficult. Try some of these methods:

  • Make friends with an English speaker who is learning a native language. If you don’t know anyone, try downloading an English-speaking app.
  • Fix or join a 1-on-1 online English-speaking class or recruit an experienced English tutor to get expert advice on your English-speaking skills.
  • Interact with a small and little group of international learners in online group classes.
  • After reaching a Mid-level in your English-speaking journey, attend webinars or live events.
  • Try to speak about yourself! In front of the mirror. This might sound weird but seriously believe me it will help you a lot.

2. Watch Television shows and Movies in English:

We all love to watch movies and series, watch those movies and series in English. Watch the way they speak and follow their accent. Try to grasp their style and accent by yourself in front of a mirror, and believe me it works like magic and will help you to enhance your Spoken English fluency. Another main thing while learning English speaking, is to listen attentively to English podcasts. While listening to English podcasts you can grasp the way they speak, and their English-speaking accents.

3. Listen to English audio and song as much as possible:

Most English language learners listen too little and read too much. However, infants and young children initially learn to speak and listen in English before moving on to reading and writing. Hearing the other person out is half the conversation; if you don't comprehend what they're saying, how can you answer appropriately? Thus, listen more if you want to get better at speaking English!

Add on point: As you listen more, your accent will naturally fade and your pronunciation will get better.

4. Practice with Online Conversations:

If you are keen to know how to practise English speaking online then you are in the right place, we are here to guide you through. You can always start by typing on the internet if you're having problems gathering the courage to talk to someone face-to-face.

It won't teach you how to talk in public, but it will teach you how to construct coherent sentences and communicate effectively, which will boost your confidence when the time comes to talk. Include online chats in your everyday activities. Try these suggestions to acquire conversational English through Internet communications:

  • Use Online Translation: The best thing about typing your conversation is that you have plenty of time to make sure you get everything right. Some websites like Google Translate will help you to find the right words to use. If Google Translate is not serving your purpose then you can check out unknown words on other websites like Vocabulary.com or Dictionary.com.
  • Join Conversations in Social Media: Nowadays most of the young generation spend their time on their mobile phone and social media, so it is very easy to involve yourself in the comment section. Try to engage yourself in English communication in the comment section of social media for example it can be: Facebook, Instagram or any other social media.
  • Announce that you’re an English learner in your profile: Write down in your profile that mentions that you are learning English and all the corrections from anyone is welcome. The people who will be assisting you are probably regular English-speaking people, so their advice will usually have great conversational English tips. You can add this thing in your “About me” sections of your social media.
  •  Ask Questions: Don’t ever feel shy or afraid of asking questions to anyone if you have any confusion. You should keep yourself open always- ask for help anytime! For example, you can ask “How would you say this in a casual conversation” to know some really useful information about how people talk or their accents.

5. Try to increase your vocabulary:

If you are with a native speaker whose mother tongue is English they know that you are learning spoken English, and you can ask them questions to know the new words or the meaning of new words better.

To increase your vocabulary you can ask these questions:

Instead of: What does that word mean?

Ask: What does this word mean in this sentence?

You need to understand that how words fit into sentences is a step towards fluency.

6. Online Spoken English Class:

You will be unable to improve your English speaking skills, if you only go by memorising meaning or words. The quickest way to learn a new language is by practising the language regularly and with determination, if you think that you don’t have anyone with whom you can practise. You can join online spoken English course of FastInfo Class to improve your spoken English. It will be easier for you to understand the language if your teacher is a trained or experienced one. You'll eventually catch up with someone unsure about whether to use the present continuous or present perfect because many English-speaking nationalities make distinct grammatical errors. Even native English speakers occasionally make mistakes since English is such a complicated language!

You may encounter someone unsure about whether to use the present continuous or present perfect tense, and you will ultimately have to catch up on their errors because many native speakers make several grammatical errors. Even native English speakers occasionally make mistakes since English is such a complicated language!

7. Conversation with new people is important:

If you feel that you are ready to interact with people then try to speak with as much as you can with someone. If it is in the wrong way, if you are fumbling then also speak. For a few days, you will speak the wrong English but gradually it will be rectified. If you don’t speak, you can’t rectify. Speaking with people or interacting with people are very important to improve your speaking skills.

  • Think in English:

If I tell you to speak in English, then you must be thinking in your native language and then translating it to English right?

But never do this! It often results in such sentences that don’t sound original or natural in English, because the structure of the sentences are often different in English and in your mother language.

Also, it takes more time to think and translate when you’re in a conversation.

One of the greatest secrets to speaking English fluently and fast is to know how to think directly in English. The good news is that this is a skill you can develop while practising, and you can practise anywhere, for example taking the bus, while waiting in line, while sitting at home.

8. You’ll feel more confident if you’re prepared!

Always be relaxed. Take deep breaths and a confident attitude:

Never be afraid or nervous! If you make a mistake, it’s okay. Many new spoken English learners make mistakes at the beginning of their career.

It's acceptable to make mistakes or forget words when speaking English! Remain calm and unafraid. The individual you're speaking with will be understanding and forbearing. It will be much harder to converse in English if you are insecure about it. Thus, AVOID saying "My English is horrible" or "I apologise for my poor English." These criticisms are unhelpful and negative.

Instead, to boost your confidence and improve your speech, tell yourself, "I can speak English!" before every conversation.

**If you’re going to a restaurant, which phrases do you need to know? Answer the below-mentioned questions that you may encounter while talking to a waiter. Try talking about food and menus**

Now let’s look at some situations and the phrases that you can use in that situation:

Useful Phrases

  • Suppose you have arrived at a restaurant and you have a table booked beforehand
  • Hi, We have booked a table for [No. of people] or you can say The booking is in_____’s name. [Tell them the name by whose name it has been booked]
  • Suppose you are in the same situation but you didn’t book a table, in that case, you can say
  • Hello, we are looking for a table for [No. of people]. Can you please help us with the issue we are facing?
  • If you want to ask about the menu to the waiter
  • Can you please assist me with the food menu?
  •  Asking about the food
  • What will be a suitable dish for vegetarians? I am a pure vegetarian
  •  If you want to order something
  • We are ready to place the order.
  •  Paying your bill
  • Can we get the bill, please? And I will pay through my UPI

Now let’s see what we have learnt:

It is very much important to see what you have learnt till now. Does it work for you? It is something like asking questions to think about what you learnt, and what the progress that you have achieved is.

It is essential to reflect on your language learning abilities regularly, more often if you are into learning a new language on your own. It is another way to provide yourself with some good feedback in the absence of a teacher.

  • Did you encounter any unfamiliar words?
  •  How much did you understand the person in front of you?
  • How comfortable did you feel about the topic?
  •  How was it?

If you think about these questions, you can notice your strengths more clearly and you will grow confidence in yourself. You will also gain the opportunity for improvement and particular areas to work on.

  • What are the key points you have learnt from the podcast or article?
  •  Can you summarise them in your own words?
  • Are there some words or ideas that are new to you?

We have experienced teachers out there who conduct English-speaking courses online for aspirants like you. Trust in us, we will train and make you proficient in spoken English.

9. Take part in Public Speaking:

Nowadays, there are a lot of big universities, and cultural societies organise events regularly like debates, moot courts, and street-side speaking. These are the places where you can come and mingle with like-minded people and practice speaking English.

Many cities host TEDx or TED talks where you can register yourself and participate in public speaking. Go through and check the events page of your local university to see if there are any of these opportunities available. It might be a thrilling experience, but it would be great for improving your English.

But one thing can strike in your mind “If I stumble or if I don’t feel comfortable while speaking?” Don’t take tension, most of the new learners feel the same at the beginning of their English fluency journey? The best way to overcome that is to go out between the people and practice.

Body Language is also important

An expression in English says, "Actions speak louder than words."

The meaning of the things you speak can be enhanced or diminished by the way you sit, hold your hands, and even appear.

However, not all gestures and body language have the same meanings across cultural boundaries. When communicating in English, bear the following points in mind:

  • Avoid particular hand gestures: It is deemed offensive to give someone the middle finger alone, with the other fingers curled down. Forming a V shape with your index and middle fingers is regarded as impolite in the United Kingdom. (In the United States, it simply denotes "peace.")
  • Use your Hands: However, when you communicate, do use your hands. Many emotions can be shown through your hands. Making a fist, in which your fingers are clenched into your hands like a boxer's, then slamming it into an open hand demonstrates your resolve. Anger can be shown by slamming a fist or an open palm into a table. You project a sense of coldness and indifference when your hands are clasped closed against your chest.
  • Use your fingers to show gestures: For example, if you want to say the “Okay” sign, keep your last three fingers open, and make an “o” gesture with your thumb and index finger.
  • Crossed Legs can show different meanings:Suppose you are crossing your legs towards the person you are speaking to, that indicates that you are listening to them attentively. If you cross your legs away, it states that you are not interested in the topic that the other person is saying to you.

Coming to an end, last but not least if you ever think that you have to repeat the routine for a couple of days or a month, then we would suggest that never leave the practice. Who can say? This hard work of a month can give growth to your career for a lifetime.

Take time! Be consistent! And Improve your Spoken English.

With the above-mentioned tips and methods, learning a new language in three months might be tough but you can do that if you stick to it, and you'll wonder why you never did it sooner!
