I was not the most talked of girl in college. I was in hubris (though I didn’t knew the term earlier). I was in search of my catharsis (medium for shedding emotions). I failed. Akin to a Gen Z I scrolled through different search engines, prior to which it was unknown to me that “abhiman” displays the meaning ‘pride’, (which was not appropriate for my emotions) which my wounded mind was not ready to accept. Right at that time I came across many words in English, and found myself in happiness with spoken English, as I learnt about classical conditioning, hence the commencement.

Now arises the question, how did I acknowledge the importance of spoken English? Thanks to my mentor. Topics for spoken English can be of various types: daily routine, work, ethics, civic sense, etc. But it’s generally welcome to start with homely conversations (they say ‘Charity begins at home’). It is not essential for every parents to practice spoken English within home, but, considering classical conditioning (association to build positive feelings toward a subject), it is a very healthy form to start teaching students with daily habits, habits in idle, what and why you want to become when you grow up? education, hobbies you want to acquire or reject, travelling interests in individuals, as well as favorite food, culture, movies- what is home, sports or sports personality you admire, books, environment, loved teachers, plans for weekends, people you admire, if I could... friends and emotions, social media, indoor and outdoor games, discussions about topics that is to some extent or other, is within their cognition. So it is apparent that topics that are common to children are the most talked of both in classes and in life itself. Now as I grew familiar, my mentor brought on me some unfamiliar topics, of which I was neither totally cognizant nor alien to, for example, some offbeat (for me) topics such as, amalgamation of culture and customs, importance of art, a walk through beach, cities vs villages, current news on geopolitics, any tough situation you have tackled, your hometown, should uniform be banned from school, importance of civic sense, pros and cons of a creative person, and after you are done with the basic there are innumerable topics and vocabulary emerging from within as, and the most trivial things worked wonders as I found that the whole book of grammar is imbibed in a single sentence, whatever topic I would talk about , at the end of the day I am talking my mind and are worried about nothing, and that’s what spoken English is all about, and I succeed whenever I picturise in my mind whatever I talk, and whatever I learn it’s a resource for lifetime. Hence my hunger for knowledge was satisfied.
